Botulinum Toxin in Upper Extremity
This workshop will be conducted by eminent international faculty with unparalleled experience in the use of Botulinum toxin, Dr Ganesh Bavikatte, Consultant and Clinical Lead Neurorehabilitation Medicine, Liverpool. . Upper limb spasticity can lead to profound functional limitations. Focal spasticity of the upper limb needs detailed assessment and can be managed with botulinum toxin.
Cognitive Rehabilitation
The workshop on Rehabilitation of Cognitive dysfunction will be held by Dr Jamuna R and team from NIMHANS, their expertise in assessment of cognitive function in patients with neurological illness and devising a tailored cognitive rehabilitation program is well known.
Cognitive deficits occur commonly after various neurological illnesses and they may be present even in those with mild traumatic brain injury. A structured program to address this issue is necessary to achieve success in rehabilitation.
Aphasia Rehabilitation
This workshop will be conducted by faculty from NIMHANS - Dr Yamini and team. They have vast experience in assessment and management of aphasia.
Aphasia can result from various disorders, one of the most common being stroke. Management of aphasia is an important component of neuro-rehabilitation.
Botulinum Toxin in lower Extremity

Lower extremity spasticity can lead to disturbances in locomotion and altered gait parameters. Botulinum toxin injections can aid in management of various issues like spastic equinus/equinovarus and clawing of the toes.
Research Methodology
This workshop will be conducted by Dr Pradeep BS and team from NIMHANS, Bengaluru. Research in medicine and rehabilitation in particular is rapidly evolving with newer approaches in study design and analysis. The quest to find the truth is a cornerstone in medical research and the methods/tools to achieve this will be discussed in this workshop.
Disability Assessment
Dr Navin Kumar is an experienced faculty from JIPMER. As a physiatrist he has a special interest in disability assessment. The current guidelines for disability assessment have been revised by the Govt. of India. This workshop by Dr Navin and team, will aid participants in assessing disability and to updating their existing knowledge of disability evaluation.
Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation
Dr Urvakhsh, faculty from NIMHANS has vast experience and expertise in use of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation for both clinical management and research. This workshop will give participants much needed exposure in this field.
Advances in neuro-rehabilitation are occurring at a staggering pace, the recent literature in the use of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation is a proof of these developments. The applications of rTMS are diverse in clinical practice and research.
Multi-sensory stimulation & Tracheostomy care
This workshop will be conducted by Dr Gourav Sannyasi, Consultant Physiatrist from Kolkata and Srinithya R, In-charge, Occupational Therapy, Dept of Neurological Rehabilitation, NIMHANS. They aim to demonstrate the best practice in multi-sensory stimulation. In addition, tracheostomy care will be discussed.
The ever growing incidence of traumatic/non-traumatic brain injuries is leading to an increasing number of people with disorders of consciousness. Multi-disciplinary approach to rehabilitation in severe brain injury is a vital step in facilitating further recovery along with acute medical care.
